New species discovered in northern Sulawesi!

The island of Sulawesi is still full of adventures. Scientists from all over the world explore the deep rain forests to search new species. Sulawesi is well known as a paradise for endemic animals. Even Sir Alfred Russel Wallace did his research in North Sulawesi and lived for a couple of weeks at Rurukan village close to Tomohon. Sulawesi is a part of the Wallacea, a transition zone between Asian and Australia.
Currently scientists from the famous Museum Victoria in Melbourne - Australia discovered a new species called Hog Nosed Rat which they found at Mount Dako in northern Sulawesi close to the small town Toli Toli where mountains reach elevations until 2.432 meters.
If you are planning to do some adventure travel in the unexplored areas of Sulawesi, please contact us to arrange your personal expedition (resortmountainview@yahoo.com).
